Steam is a cross-platform entertainment platform developed by Valve Corporation for purchasing and playing video games. It gives you access to thousands of games and allows you to meet new people.

Prerequisites
You’ll need to be logged in as a user with sudo privileges to be able to install packages on your Ubuntu system.
Installing Steam on Ubuntu
Installing Elasticsearch on Ubuntu is fairly straightforward. We’ll download the installation file from the official website and install it from the command-line:

Open the terminal either by using the

keyboard shortcut or by clicking on the terminal icon. Download the latest Google Chrome.deb
package using the followingwget
command:wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb

Once the download is complete, install Steam with
apt
:sudo apt install ./steam.deb
That’s it. At this point, you have Steam installed on your Ubuntu desktop.
During the installation process, the official Steam repository will be added to your system. When a new version is released, you can update the Steam package through your desktop standard Software Update tool or by running the following commands in your terminal:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
Starting Steam
To launch the Steam client, open the Activities search bar, type “Steam” and click on the icon. Steam can also be launched from the command-line by typing steam
.
When you start Steam for the first time, it will open a new terminal and install the necessary packages:

to continue. The terminal will close, and Steam will update its self to the latest version:
This can take a few minutes.
Once the update is complete, the Steam client will start.
From here, you can log in to your Steam account or create a new one.
